The Community Relations team of Holly Brooker, coordinator; Nori Gartner-Baca, senior community relations specialist; and Dorothy Wills-Raftery, community relations specialist, have been recognized by the National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA) with a Golden Achievement Award for the production of the monthly What is Ulster BOCES? Success Series.

The Success Series highlights the impact Ulster BOCES has had on its students' lives. Students and parents who are interviewed often cite Ulster BOCES as the single most important part in turning their lives around. Each month a different Ulster BOCES student is highlighted from one of the local component school districts. The publication is distributed to local board of education members, school administrators, local and state elected officials, and is featured on the Ulster BOCES website.

Award judges carefully sought outstanding achievement in the four steps of a public relations program (1. analysis of a need; 2. planning to meet the need; 3. execution and communication of program; and 4. evaluation). According to NSPRA executive director Richard D. Bagin, APR, "You (Ulster BOCES) are one of a select group of winners and we congratulate you for being a leader in school communication."  End of story
