Eugene R. Knudsen, Jr. of Brewster has been named Director of the Mid-Hudson Regional Information Center (MHRIC) in New Paltz. He replaces Ted Detjen who retired in June. His appointment was announced by Ulster BOCES District Superintendent Martin Ruglis.
Knudsen comes to the MHRIC with over 22 years of experience in the technology field, much of it centered in the field of business communications services. Most recently, Knudsen worked as a senior systems engineer for AT&T Labs/AT&T Solutions in Florham Park, New Jersey, where he was responsible for identifying, analyzing, and managing business and system requirements for AT&T outsourcing clients.
A graduate of Marist College in Poughkeepsie with a master’s degree in Business Administration, Knudsen also holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Pace University in Pleasantville. He also completed a graduate certificate program in Project Management at George Washington University in Washington, D.C. He and his wife Mary Jean are residents of Putnam County and are the parents of three sons.
In his new position, Knudsen will assume responsibility for one of twelve New York State Regional Information Centers that provide management technology services to school districts, as well as local BOCES. The MHRIC serves school districts in Dutchess, Orange, Sullivan, and Ulster Counties.
First on Knudsen’s schedule are personal visits to school districts throughout the Hudson Valley. “I want to use this opportunity to reconnect with component districts and get a real understanding of their computer needs,” said Knudsen. “It’s important that the MHRIC is the first resource they turn to whenever they have a specific need for technology to enhance their programs for students, as well as teachers.”
