January 2007 Ulster BOCES Honor Society Students Make a Difference
The Ulster BOCES National Technical Honor Society (NTHS) students recently collected new personal care items from staff and students at the Career & Technical Center in an effort to “make a difference” in the lives of Ulster County teenagers residing at the Family House Teen Shelter in Bloomington, NY.
“The NTHS students have opened their hearts once again for a good cause,” notes Gloria Middaugh, NTHS co-advisor, who along with fellow advisors Mike Fresina and Radmilla Haviland, guide the NTHS students in their community service efforts.
“They feel a kinship to these people not only because they are teenagers just like them but because they need a helping hand at this particularly hard time in their lives,” says Middaugh. “This is what the National Honor Society is all about; building leadership skills by helping those who need it the most in our community.”
