Arnold joined the Ulster BOCES Board of Education, “To continue to have an opportunity to work for the benefit of this community in general and with children in particular.”

If Arnold could achieve any one educational accomplishment while serving as a Board of Education member it would be, “To see that every student in our schools graduates with the life skills necessary to participate positively in the democratic process. I would also want every student to graduate with a marketable skill and/or the academic skills necessary to benefit from further education. I would want every graduate to appreciate the past and to be able to appreciate the culture that the past has given us.”

Arnold served on the Rondout Valley Central School District for six years. In that time, he served as President.

In addition to his Board commitments, Arnold is the Immediate Past President of the Ulster County School Boards Association (UCSBA). He is also a member of the New York State School Boards Association (NYSSBA), New York State Everett Dyer Award Committee, Dutchess/Ulster/Sullivan/Orange (DUSO) School Board Association, Council of Local School Boards Association (COLSBA), and the State Legislative Network (SLN). Arnold is also the alternate Ulster BOCES representative for the Statewide BOCES Committee.
