People working in this field support public and private enterprises by managing peopleand information. They perform such activities as planning, training, promoting, consulting, researching, and reporting. These activities result in the creation, storage, retrieval, and distribution of information.
INTERNET & COMPUTER APPLICATIONS
Jump-start your career into the high-tech field with this two-year program, which is centered on business computer technology. Students learn computer basics, business software operation, as well as how to design and host web pages. They also gain valuable experience with the Internet and learn about its current business applications. Manual and computerized accounting are also covered in the program.
By focusing on the use of the most popular and advanced software packages, such as Microsoft Office Professional Version, second-year students are exposed to the programs that they will encounter in the workforce. Students in their second year are also eligible to take the Microsoft Office User Specialist (MOUS) certification test.

GRAPHIC & VISUAL ARTS
Using industry standard software and equipment, students learn both the theory and practice of desktop publishing, illustration, digital photography, photo manipulation, advertising design, web design, and animation.
Drawing and other traditional art practices are also encouraged. Students are taught awareness of the media and the way it is used to promote ideas and products. Throughout the year, students will compile a portfolio of their work that showcases their achievements, which they can then utilize when applying to colleges, as well as for employment in the field of graphic and visual arts. GVA Print (generally for first-year students) will focus on studies that involve print media, while in GVA Multimedia (generally in the second year of study), students will create content that can be delivered over the Internet in the form of web pages. Students will work on class assignments and projects that simulate real work situations. This course of study provides students with the basic technological skills necessary for careers in this growing industry.

Many colleges offer programs in Graphic Arts or other related fields such as Marketing, Communications, and New Media. Other fields that this program provides foundational skills for are Video Editing and Production, CAD, and 3D Animation.
