Industry Leaders Share Expertise with CTE Students
Our Electrical Construction & Maintenance students, along with students from the HVAC and Cisco programs, recently learned how high tech is becoming more affordable and more popular in both homes and businesses.
Representatives from industry leader and innovator Leviton visited students and gave a comprehensive presentation of both residential and commercial automation installations. The Melville, LI, headquartered company employs more than 6,500 people and has more than 25,000 products and 600 patents in it's portfolio. Along with sharing their expertise with the students, they are also investing in the future workforce by making in-kind donations of both switches and receptacles for the students to use to gain hands-on skills.

The students also learned about various platforms and recent innovations from Leviton such as smartphone apps and smart home cloud technologies used to control residences' and businesses' lights, keyless locks, self-setting thermostats, and more. Most importantly, students learned that as the technology grows, so do the opportunities for electrical and HVAC contractors, as well as careers in information technology.
