The Ulster BOCES Community Relations team is busy making room on their walls for 11 awards of recognition from the New York School Public Relations Association (NYSPRA) for the production of various school publications for Ulster BOCES, Highland Central Schools, and Rondout Valley Central Schools.
The Ulster BOCES team earned two Awards of Excellence, five Awards of Honor, and four Awards of Merit in the statewide competition that had more than 650 entries.
School communications professionals from across the country judged the contest. Honorees were presented with certificates at the New York State School Board Association’s annual conference recently held in Buffalo.
“This year’s judging was very competitive,” notes NYSPRA contest coordinator Nori Gartner-Baca. “Winners should feel especially proud to know their submission earned recognition from their professional peers.”
School public relations professionals in California, Colorado, and Texas did most of the judging. Locally, judging was provided by Tri-State Associated Services in Kingston, The Times Herald Record in Middletown, The Buffalo News in Buffalo, Custom Video in Liberty, www.WhatsTheBigIdea.com in Saugerties, and Pete Mathieu and Associates in Montgomery.
“We are thrilled to have earned the awards we did in a contest entered by so many colleagues in New York State,” said community relations coordinator at Ulster BOCES Holly Brooker. “Good communication is such a vital component of school success--it’s great that Ulster BOCES was recognized for its efforts.”
