Ulster BOCES will host the first-ever “Law Day” from 9-10:30 AM on April 7, 2008, at The Seasons Restaurant Culinary Arts training facility located at the Career and Technical Center in Port Ewen. This exciting event will give high school students from Ulster County the chance to discuss important questions about the local economy and job opportunities with New York State Assemblymember Kevin Cahill. The 8th Annual Ulster County Career Conference gives more than 1,300 high school students from throughout the county valuable information to help them determine who they are, where they are going, and what they need to do to get there. | Ulster BOCES GED Graduates Celebrate Success |
Smiles abounded at the annual Ulster BOCES General Educational Development (GED) graduation ceremony that was recently held at the Career & Technical Center in Port Ewen. During this momentous occasion, adult students from across Ulster County were recognized for completing their diploma requirements during the 2006-07 academic year.
For the 75 individuals who achieved their GED diplomas through Ulster BOCES, the value of education is priceless—including increased earning potential over those who do not possess a high school diploma or its equivalent. Education not only benefits the individuals, but also the economy where they live and work.

| Ulster BOCES Nursing Students Participate in Alzheimer’s Fundraiser |
Ulster BOCES Nursing students had a strong presence at a recent Alzheimer’s Memory Walk hosted at SUNY Ulster in Stone Ridge. More than 20 students showed their support by participating in the walk, which is the nation’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s, a progressive and fatal brain disease that afflicts over five million Americans.

| Ulster BOCES Honored in Statewide Competition |
Members of the Ulster BOCES Community Relations team were recognized at the New York School Public Relations Association’s (NYSPRA) 26th Annual Communications Contest luncheon, held in conjunction with the New York State School Boards Association (NYSSBA) annual convention in New York City on October 26. The team received 21 awards for publications created for six Ulster County school districts. Nine of the awards are for the highest level achievable, Awards of Excellence.
