What is Tech Prep?
Tech Prep is a redesigned educational process that concentrates on preparing 11th & 12th grade students for higher education in technical careers. It is a focused program of study that includes math, communications, and advanced technologies.
Tech Prep in High School
High school students will be able to earn college credit while studying at the Ulster BOCES Career & Technical Center. The courses at the Career & Technical Center are developed to integrate “hands-on learning” with the State Learning Standards. Tech Prep connects high school and college courses to eliminate unnecessary duplication of coursework.
Tech Prep Partnerships
Tech Prep’s goal is to prepare students for success at high school and college levels, and in their chosen careers. By building partnerships between local high schools, community colleges, and business leaders, Tech Prep links high school education to the skills that are identified by educators and business leaders as essential components for lifetime success.

Ulster County Tech Prep at Ulster BOCES is one of 34 consortia in New York State that is funded under Carl D. Perkins Vocational and Applied Technology Education Act.

You Can Earn College Credit While Attending High School
Local community colleges and other teaching institutions have established articulation agreements to enable students to earn college credit while studying at Ulster BOCES. These same agreements allow students to make a smooth transition to college after high school graduation.
