Ulster BOCES Career Pathways Programs celebrated 581 young professionals during its Class of 2026 Completion Celebration held May 28 at the Ulster Performing Arts Center (UPAC) in Kingston.

The ceremony recognized students from across Ulster County who successfully completed their Career Pathways programs, representing a wide range of career fields including Culinary Arts, Cosmetology, Law & Public Service, Fashion Design & Merchandising, Cisco & Cyber Security, Electrical Construction, Robotics & Advanced Manufacturing, Welding & Metal Fabrication, and more.

As part of Ulster BOCES' commitment to workforce readiness and leadership development, nearly 580 students participated in SkillsUSA leadership activities and framework qualifications. More than 175 students were recognized for competing in SkillsUSA events or serving as elected officers. Additionally, 298 students were honored as members of the National Technical Honor Society for their academic achievement and dedication to their chosen career pathways.

Experiential learning remained a cornerstone of the Career Pathways experience throughout the 2025-26 school year. Students participated in a variety of workplace learning opportunities, including 82 paid internships that generated more than $16,750 in weekly earnings while providing valuable hands-on experience. An additional 341 students completed experiential or clinical internships aligned with their career interests.

The celebration also featured remarks from Class of 2026 valedictorian Makayla Petreshock, a Culinary Arts student from Highland High School. Petreshock thanked the teachers and staff who supported students throughout their educational journeys and encouraged her fellow graduates to continue pursuing their goals through hard work and determination.

Petreshock distinguished herself through her accomplishments in SkillsUSA regional and state competitions, earning gold medals in Cake Decorating. She is also a member of the National Technical Honor Society and plans to continue her education at the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park.

The annual Completion Celebration highlights the achievements of students who have gained industry-relevant skills, leadership experience, and real-world workplace training through Ulster BOCES Career Pathways Programs. As they move on to higher education, apprenticeships, military service, and careers, the Class of 2026 graduates are well prepared to meet the workforce needs of today and tomorrow.
