Students in the Ulster BOCES HVAC program recently completed their WARDFLEX training at the Career & Technical Center in a novel way. In past years, the training was live and in person. This year, due to the coronavirus, teacher Dave Brannen arranged for WARDFLEX trainer and sales representative John Peterson from Urell, Inc. to virtually provide instruction using the classroom’s new meeting tool— a Neat Bar that enhances the Zoom experience. The technology captured Peterson’s lesson in high definition, teaching the students when, where, and how to use the WARDFLEX safely when installing gas dryers, stoves, fireplaces, water heaters, and more. Next, the class will get hands-on training on how to assemble and install the parts, and will test their new skill set on one of the lab’s gas furnaces. Kudos to the 21 students who passed the test!
