Mid-Hudson Valley Leadership Day to Offer Growth for Early Childhood Professionals

Ulster BOCES is proud to once again be a co-sponsor of the Mid-Hudson Valley Leadership Day. This event is dedicated to educating and rejuvenating early childhood professionals, such as directors, owners, and administrators of daycare centers. The event will be held at The Chateau in Kingston on Friday, Nov. 9, from 8 AM - 3:30 PM. The event is also being sponsored by Child Care Connections of Family of Woodstock and Community Playthings.

Author and motivational speaker John J. Pelizza, Ph.D., will deliver the opening day keynote address, titled, “Keys to Physical & Mental Wellness.”

The conference will also feature Tim Hathaway, executive director of Prevent Child Abuse New York. Hathaway will speak on the topic of “Adverse Childhood Experiences and Protective Factors.” In addition, New York Association for the Education of Young Children Public Policy Chair Jenn O’Connor will discuss “Advocacy Made Easy: Part II.”

These industry professionals will be joined by a panel of other renowned early childhood education experts who will share their knowledge and expertise. There will also be training sessions, networking opportunities, vendors, and giveaways.

This event will address the complex issues these professionals occasionally experience. Ulster BOCES Early Childhood/Educational Studies and Pre-University/New Visions Education teacher Michelle Friedel says she has enjoyed seeing this event grow, and is looking forward to having it benefit industry professionals. “Based upon the positive feedback from last year, we wanted to provide more resources and support to the leaders in our profession,” says Friedel.

The professional will not be the only ones learning at the event. Ulster County students from the Ulster BOCES Early Childhood/Educational Studies and Pre-University/New Visions Education programs will also be providing support during the event, honing their networking, leadership, organizational, interpersonal, and other skills important to college and career readiness.

Admission is $90, but tickets purchased before Oct. 5 are $75. Student tickets are $50 with legible student IDs. Download a registration form for the Mid-Hudson Valley Leadership Day here. For more information, email Michelle Friedel, or call her at 845.331.6680 x2244.
