Students at Mt. Marion Celebrate Lunar New Year

Students at the Ulster BOCES Center for Innovative Teaching & Learning (CITL) at Mount Marion engaged in creative hands-on activities to learn about the traditions of the 15-day Lunar New Year celebration.

Inspired by the story of the Great Race, the origin of the Chinese zodiac, art teacher Jasmin Mitchell guided students through decorating paper lanterns and learning how to monoprint. They also practiced writing characters symbolizing health, wealth, and good fortune—making wishes for a prosperous year ahead.
