Ulster BOCES Celebrates Record Internship Placements and Business Partnerships at Annual Recognition Event at Mohonk Mountain House

Over the past school year, Ulster BOCES has placed more young professionals in internships than ever before. On June 12, both young professionals and business partners were recognized at an event held in the Mohonk Mountain House Pavilion. This celebration marks the culmination of dedication, growth, and achievement for Ulster BOCES interns and the deep commitment and support the business partners have provided them.

Attendees enjoyed a delicious brunch while networking and introducing family and friends to employers before the presentation. During the signing ceremony, interns and business partners committed to extending the internship or, in some cases, employing the intern upon graduation. Alexander Cobey, a young professional from Onteora High School, even received his business cards and desk plaque from his employer, Winsupply of Kingston, and there were many hugs and tears of joy throughout the event.

In addition, business partners were recognized for their continued support of the Ulster BOCES Workplace Learning program. There were 257 Ulster BOCES young professionals participating in internships or capstone work as of June 10, many of which were paid, with the remaining being experiential or clinical internships. This year there were 82 paid internships averaging over $18,000 per week combined. As these numbers continue to grow year after year, Ulster BOCES is proving to be an economic development engine for Ulster County and the Hudson Valley.

Industry partners that were recognized or had interns at the event include: Advanced Radiant Design; Artisan Beauty Bar; Aunt Jenn's Early Learning Center; Bright Beginnings; DBS Remodel; ELEVEN SIX; Ellenville Regional Hospital; Fall Fittings; Feeney Shipyard; Forgieone Plumbing & Heating; Home Sweet Hudson; Horses for a Change at Frog Hollow Farm; Humane Society of Walden; Hurley Motorsports Inc.; iPark 87; Jeff Lowe Plumbing, Heating and Air Conditioning, Inc.; Kingston Auto Supply Inc.; Le Shag; LM Steyer Construction Services, LLC.; Mohonk Mountain House; Mid-Hudson Fence Company; New York State Department of Transportation; People's Place; R.C.
