High school and adult students enrolled in the Ulster BOCES Cosmetology programs are providing purple manicures and purple streaks of hair in exchange for donations that will benefit guests at the Family of Woodstock’s Family Inn, which is a shelter located in Kingston.

The services, which are intended to bring attention to Domestic Violence Awareness Month, will be offered in the Career & Technical Center’s salon on October 24 and 31. The high school students will be offering daytime services from 9-10:20 AM and 12-1:20 PM. Adult students will be available for clients from 3:30-7:30 PM.

The salon is located at the Career & Technical Center on Route 9W in Port Ewen. No appointments are necessary. If you are visiting for daytime services, you must check in with security at the main entrance and have identification with you. For evening amenities, please enter through the Adult Education entrance.

In lieu of supplies, monetary donations of any amount will also be accepted.
