Ulster BOCES Offers Unique New Course for Dog Lovers

“Man’s Best Friend” is here to stay, but sometimes if a dog owner cannot understand their pet’s strange and troubling behavior, it can mean problems. Since studies show that good communication strategies with a dog can help to reduce negative behaviors and strengthen their bond with their owners, Ulster BOCES created a brand-new class, “Dog Talk 101” to help demystify the human-to-pet relationship.

This is a fun and light introductory class on learning how dogs think and how they communicate. It offers a canine perspective in order to shed light on some of their silly and puzzling behaviors. Though there will be no live animals at this presentation, this class is a perfect way to celebrate National Dog Week, a week-long celebration from September 20-27, that focuses not only on educating dog owners and the public about dog care, but also helping lost, homeless, or abused dogs find homes.

“Dog Talk 101” will be held on Wednesday, September 21, from 5:30-7:30 PM, at the Ulster BOCES Adult Career Education Center in Port Ewen. The cost of the class is $30. Register today at https://bit.ly/3pvCoFD.
