Three students from the Ulster BOCES Career & Technical Center were among the best and brightest from Ulster County who were recognized for their academic achievements during the fourth annual Scholastic Achievement Breakfast, held at Ulster BOCES in New Paltz on June 13.

Sponsored by the Ulster County Superintendents’ Council, the breakfast honored the valedictorians, salutatorians, and principal’s award recipients from Ellenville, Highland, Kingston, New Paltz, Onteora, Rondout Valley, Saugerties, and Wallkill school districts, as well as the Ulster BOCES Career & Technical Center. In attendance along with the honored students were their parents, principals, superintendents, and representatives of the county’s Boards of Education.

Administrators praised the students for their academic achievement as well as for being outstanding athletes, talented musicians, and compassionate individuals who have given their time and talents to improve the world both locally and globally.

Honored from the Career & Technical Center this year was Principal’s Award recipient Devin Howey, Salutatorian Rebecca Brett, and Valedictorian Angelina Violante. On hand to celebrate the students was Deputy Superintendent Dr. Jonah Schenker, District Superintendent Dr. Charles V. Khoury, and Principal Dean Lucera.

Devin is a Kingston High School student who graduated from the Electrical program at the Career & Technical Center. He plans to attend the IBEW Local 363 Apprenticeship Program and study Electrical Construction. 

Rebecca is a Saugerties High School student who graduated from the Criminal Justice program at the Career & Technical Center. She will be attending SUNY Ulster to begin her studies in Criminal Justice.

Angelina is a Wallkill High School student who graduated from the Culinary program at the Career & Technical Center. She will be attending the Culinary Institute of America, majoring Baking & Pastry and Food Business Management.
