Making Culturally Responsive Education Real: Developing Effective Practices to Inspire, Engage, and Empower with Jevon Hunter

Educators are invited to a new professional learning series designed to explore how to implement Culturally Responsive-Sustaining Education across different educational environments. Using NYSED's Culturally Responsive-Sustaining Framework, participants will learn how to put into practice principles and guidelines that support student learning, teacher instruction, and community engagement. The targeted goals for this professional learning series are

1) to introduce and review the guiding principles that support culturally responsive-sustaining education;
2) to discuss and build the capacity for culturally responsive education;
3) to create and apply culturally responsive-sustaining education across the district, school, and classroom initiatives;
4) to identify, build, and/or incorporate culturally responsive-sustaining education resources.

- This professional learning opportunity is designed for district teams. Please consider bringing teachers, SEL/DEI coordinators, community members, and administrators.
- Districts will engage in self-assessment aimed at leveraging existing work and identifying future needs.
