Learning, Seen: A Data Storytelling Experience in Illuminating Stories Through the Portrait of a Graduate
What is the story of your graduates, and how do you know?
This four-part professional learning series invites educators and leaders to explore how data storytelling, technology, and authentic evidence of learning can bring NYSED’s Portrait of a Graduate to life across a P–12 system. Participants will move beyond static data points to uncover meaningful narratives about student growth, identity, and future readiness.
Through collaborative workshops and hands-on analysis, participants will explore how qualitative and quantitative data, digital tools, and multimedia evidence can illuminate individual student journeys, cohort trends, and broader school and district stories.
Together, participants will consider critical questions including:
- What is the story of our students?
- How do individual journeys reflect collective experiences?
- How can technology and data make learning more visible and meaningful?
- How can schools design systems that respond to what the data is truly telling us?
Participants will leave with practical strategies and frameworks for using data storytelling to support student voice, continuous improvement, and future-focused learning.
