Cisco & Cybersecurity Students Win Big

Twelve Ulster BOCES students in the Cisco & Cybersecurity program took the top honors of Scholar ranking in the 2021-2022 CyberStart America competition, earning them the distinction of being the second-place finisher in New York State. The students competed against more than 45,000 students nationwide. The young professionals were among the top 1,152 highest scoring students who met the eligibility criteria of scoring more than 100,000 points. As a reward, they have earned a $3,000 scholarship to attend this summer’s online Cyber Foundations Academy program sponsored by the National Cyber Scholarship Foundation.

In all, 42 Cisco & Cybersecurity students entered the contest, which serves to build critical cybersecurity skills including web exploitation, programming, forensics, and cryptology. In all, 24 Ulster BOCES students qualified for semifinalist, finalist, and scholars’ categories.
