The River to River K-12 Virtual Academies at Ulster BOCES is a K-12 online school that is inclusive, flexible, and accessible—without compromising rigor, academics and achievement, powerful learning experiences, and the development of the whole student. We will support and nurture healthy interactions and engagement where students collaborate with other students, teachers, parents, and other partners to advance their learning, build their capacity, and find joy in each day.

Our countywide shared values are emotional well-being, relationships, and interactive student engagement. These are the foundations of our school.

With flexibility, low student/teacher ratio, and our supportive approach, students can excel in a virtual environment through powerful learning experiences and project-based learning (PBL).

Instruction is supported by a team of Lead Learners (Teachers) and Support Staff whose primary focus is to ensure that all students can access and engage in their learning journey in an equitable manner. Learning clusters are organized to provide a seamless transition from mastering the foundations of literacy and numeracy in the K-3 Academy to enhancing, refining, and practicing those skills in the Grades 4-6 and Grades 7-9 Academies, and finally applying those skills to solve real community and world problems in the Grades 10-12 Academy.
Relationships and social emotional learning as the core will provide the foundation to a project-based learning experience that ensures equity and access for all students, while meeting the requirements for a NYS Regents Diploma.

The River to River K-12 Virtual Academies will act as an extension to our component districts’ diversity of programming and students will retain their home school identity, access to extracurricular activities, and be awarded a diploma by their home district.
