Seating is Limited! Register Soon!

Each year thousands of educators from across the U.S. flock to San Diego to High Tech High's Leadership Academy to be trained in their innovative approach to project-based learning.

This year, Ulster BOCES is proud to bring High Tech High’s (HTH) Project Design for Deeper Learning to the East Coast!

Women in a discussion at a workshop.

Taking place at Ulster BOCES in New Paltz, NY, this program will immerse teachers in an authentic learning experience where innovative teaching practices are modeled by a national leader of progressive education.

Educational teams will collaborate to craft, document, and adapt authentic project-based learning curriculum to take home to their own schools. Leaders will also receive the ongoing support of an HTH teacher-mentor through the “critical friends” program included in this package.

Session 1: Oct. 24 & 25, 2018 at Ulster BOCES, New Paltz, NY

Project Design for Deeper Learning

This institute is tailored for educators and school planning teams to dive deeply into project-based learning and the High Tech High design principles. Workshops feature project development systems from HTH K–12 schools, design thinking practices, video, and related protocols, and participants are facilitated to develop PBL curriculum tailored to their own school and district goals.

Session 2: Jan. 23 & 24, 2019 at High Tech High, San Diego

Deeper Learning in Action

Teams visit High Tech High’s K-12 schools in San Diego, which model a rich context for personalized, hands-on learning and the integration of theory and practice. This two-day intensive extracts core features of meaningful learning experiences, analyzes exemplar projects from HTH K–12 schools, and employs project-inspiring resources for participating educational teams. Participants leave with a deeper understanding of project based learning and an array of resources that guide their next steps and future project plans.

Session 3: April 23 & 24, 2019 at Ulster BOCES, New Paltz NY

Facilitating Quality Student Work Critique, Revision & Exhibition

HTH works with teaching teams to incorporate student-driven processes for critique and revision that support the design of high quality products in project-based learning environments. Educators also learn core practices to facilitate students sharing their learning in a variety of contexts with meaningful, authentic audiences. Exemplar projects are used by participants to learn how exhibiting can drive deeper more authentic learning.
