Meet the Presenters
Dr. Jevon Hunter is a critically acclaimed literacy educator who studies the ways literacies can be used to mis/dis/empower urban youth broadly, and African American males particularly. He is a Woods Beals Endowed Chair for Urban Education, School of Education; Interim Chair, Social and Psychological Foundations of Education; Associate Professor, Elementary Education, Literacy, and Educational Leadership Department; Executive Editor, Journal of Inquiry and Action in Education.
Dr. brad gustafson is a 2016 National Distinguished Principal, author, and speaker. He was recently named a National School Boards Association “20 to Watch” educator. He shares the belief that schools should be spaces where relationships, creativity, and innovation thrive. His passion for leadership and learning is palpable. Brad’s newest book, Renegade Leadership, empowers educators to create innovative schools for digital-age students. Brad is a 2015 Digital Innovation in Learning Award (DILA) winner, and his school was recognized with a Local Government Innovation Award by the Humphrey School of Public Affairs at the University of Minnesota. He co-hosts the “UnearthED” program on the Bam Radio Network. His blog, Adjusting Course, was named a “Must Read” K-12 blog by EdTech magazine. Brad earned his doctorate from Bethel University where his research focused on professional development and innovation. He is a school leader who understands the importance of collaboration, school culture, and learner empowerment.
Dr. Tony Sinanis is currently the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction in the Plainedge School District and as of July 1st, he will be the Superintendent of Schools in the Hastings-on-Hudson school district in Westchester. Prior to his current position in Plainedge, Tony was the Lead Learner (Principal) at the 2012 National Blue Ribbon School and the 2015 Model School, Cantiague Elementary in Jericho, New York. Tony was also named the 2014 NYS Elementary Principal of the Year. He is co-author of Hacking Leadership, The Power of Branding, and Principal Professional Development. Andrew Marotta is the High School Principal of Port Jervis HS and has served in this role for the last seven years. He was the Assistant Principal for the prior seven years. He is a husband, father, college basketball official, speaker, and author.
